It’s almost exactly one year since UDE dumped us. They were once the love of our lives, but have since ripped out our hearts and pureed them to make some kind of disgusting parody of a milkshake.

In honor of our tragic anniversary, I propose we make one last ‘drunk dial’ to UDE before tearing them out of our little black books entirely. Here’s the idea…

Let’s all go to the UDE “Ideas” page found here:

http://www.upperdeck.com/marketing/ideas.aspx

Then let’s all post something like this:

My name is ___________ and I’ve been a loyal customer of yours for years. I grew up on your sports cards, then I got pulled into your fantastic TCG called Vs. System. A year ago, UDE discontiued support for Vs. System because, while profitable, it simply wasn’t producing as expected.

I’ve got a proposal for you. Fantasty Flight games uses what they call a “Living Card Game” model. They produce “Chapter Packs”. Chapter packs are small releases that contain set cards; similar to large starter decks. They’re much cheaper to design and produce, but everyone that plays can simply buy enough of them to get an entire playset.

Fantasy Flight Games has admitted that this model has been much more profitable for them than the CCG/TCG model.

Since there’s still an audience for Vs. System, you’re almost guarenteed profitability. At the very least, if you decide you aren’t interested in producing ‘a ‘Living Card Game’, please consider selling the Vs. System game engine to an interested party as a means to help with the Konami settlement.

Either approach means you’ll be making money, and Vs. Players will get to keep playing. Everybody wins!

Thanks for your time!

Now, obviously you all can put your own personal twist on this message, but the gist should be the same: “Save our game by reprinting it as an LCG!”

Will this work? Probably not. Do we stand to lose anything by trying? Absolutely not!

Happy Valentines Day from the Vssystem.org Players Council!

Can't hurt can it???

Another approch....

http://s11.zetaboards.com/vssystem/topic/7279869/1/

I know we had our Valentine's Day 'joke' mail-in compaign to UDE, but this time I think we need to take it a little more seriously. Cryptozoic just picked up WoW, a game UDE lost AFTER Vs. Yes, I know WoW has Blizzard backing, and that there was little-to-no downtime during the transition. But this might be our last real chance to convince a company to pick us up, so we'd be remiss not to try. Here's the gameplan:

Go here:

http://www.cryptozoic.com/forum.php (and click 'Contact Us' at the bottom).

Say something like:

Quote:
Have you guys ever thought about the Vs. System license (the precursor to WoW)? It was cancelled about a year before UDE lost it's WoW and Yugi-Oh rights. It was not cancelled from lack of profit, rather it was cancelled because UDE made public that they wanted to focus on 2 of their games (Yugi and WoW). Ironically, they now have virtually nothing and are on the losing end of a couple of lawsuits.

Vs. System still has a VERY loyal fanbase who congregate around the site www.vssystem.org. We've been waiting for a company to aquire the rights to the license and continue our great game. UDE might not even release its Marvel Superstars game anymore, so it's almost certain that they will be closing their Entertainment branch entirely.

On your main page you mention "We are after all, a company made up of gamers and pop culture fanatics, so it’s only natural that our company would be representative of our own personal interests and beliefs." Well Vs. System is also made up of Pop Culture fanatics as well. It is a comic book card game after all!

Our core followers are loyal (as in L5R loyal). We will follow this game until the end. Should you choose to aquire the Vs. System license, we guarentee your product will sell. We're even organizing a Gen Con event for our 'dead' game this year. So we will see your crew there.

It's also important to note that since Vs. was a precursor to WoW, many of our fans also play WoW. It's how we knew about you guys in the first place. We love what you're doing with the game. We especially love how up-front you are about how this process will proceed. We never got that kind of communication from UDE.

I should also point out that you could purchase the Vs. license and convert it to an LCG (living card game). An LCG is a term coined by Fantasy Flight games for a game that releases pre-constructed sets (instead of random packs). It's a much cheaper approach as you can print based solely on demand.

We also don't need Vs. to be the exact same as it was (Marvel and DC). If you can only aquire DC, or Darkhorse, or Vertigo, etc. We'll still play the game. We just want more cards for our cardboard addiction Smile

Please consider this seriously. Many of us are married with kids and don't plan on getting into new games. We simply want our game to continue, and we'll PAY to make that a reality! With comic book movies coming out every few months, the advertising is practically done for you! Someone just needs to click 'print'. Smile

Thanks for your time.

Vs. System Players Council

Don't say that verbatim as that's what I said. And please don't sign off as Scott Thompson! But say something similar. Promote us as a desirable customer base in an attempt to make them want to work with us.

Also, more than 8 people need to do this. If we can muster 100 or so messages to them, they might take notice. So get your friends that don't normally do this stuff. Including your friends that don't have accounts here, and get them onboard. I have 8 or so friends that know how to play the game, but don't have accounts here, and you better believe I'm making all 8 of them do this.

Let's also use this thread to keep a running count of how many messages we've sent.

Running total: 29
